It's the actual item I receivedThe Brake switch, generally just operates the Brake Lights of a car, but a Mercedes Brake Switch is tied to several other systems of the car (Traction Control & ABS).So even if the car's brake lights are working the Brake Switch can still be faulty/failing and cause several other systems to malfunction causing dashboard diagnostic (check engine) lights to trigger. It takes less than 15 minutes to change-out, very easy and only costs $20 with free shipping included. So if your research suggests that this MAY be a possible culprit for your problem/symptom, it's about $100 cheaper than simply getting the car scanned at the Dealer, which results at best, would simply include the Brake Switch as a possible failure. Also cheaper than new Brake Sensor or Front-end alignment check...If it doesn't change/solve your problem just throw the old one in the glove compartment for a later/rainy day!It may not sound "technical/scientific", but that doesn't mean it isn't the cheapest/fastest option/solution!Good luck finding the Ghosts in your Machine....~BThe task to replace the brake stop light switch it's straight forward but working under the steering column s very awkward and not easy. There are 4 phillips screws and a plastic screw in the back close to the pedals. To remove the faulty switch you have to push in and turn it clockwise a quarter of a turn.Move the electrical connectors and install the new switch. It is very snag and you have to push the new switch firmly into the socket and turn it counterclockwise. All done!Quick fix for my ESP/ABS light on a W210 2002 E320.I'm a MB DIY'er and I spent a month researching my ABS/BAS/ESP light situation. Some were costly others just time consuming. Then one day my wife was driving behind me in her car and asked me if I was riding my brakes. No, but a lightbulb went off in my head and I ordered this brake switch.Taking the old one out is the tricky part but the whole replacement is doable in under 30 minutes. If you have your ESP/BAS/ABS warnings on a W210, check to see if your brake lights are stuck on while driving. This was my problem and made for a quick cheap fix.I had brought two of this switches before from the Mercedes dealer cost 3~4 times of the price you get here. The Mercedes parts only last less than two years and stuck! I would not trust Mercedes the third times. Not only this parts, I also use other Mercedes parts (Minor parts) for my customers and all last not long! It screw up my repair shop reputation! This third party part so far not problem yet. I will come back with another review 3, 5 years later.I had it installed because when I touched the brake, it would kick on the abs and traction control lights which disabled those functions. Once installed the lights came back on 2 times. Since those 2 times, the lights haven’t been back on since. It has been installed for about a month since it was fixed and has been working well.My wife's CLK320 would start, but we couldn't get it out of Park (there were three malfunctions showing if you pressed the brake peddle). I replaceD the brake switch with this one and all is well now.FOLLOW THE INCLUDED INSTRUCTIONS WHEN INSTALLING THE PARTPurchased from seller item was shipped fast and exactly as described exactly what I needed and fixed problem instantly after removing old switch it was clear what was the problem and which piece was truly authentic, would definitely purchase again , thinking of gettin one just to have as a spare
