At first I could not keep it attached to my helmet, it just weighed too much. After I put some weights on the back for a better counter balance, this thing is great. My wolf 7s have a built in IR illuminator and while it works, this just makes everything that much cleaner. To give a visual description, with the wolf 7s IR illuminator I can see a tree 25 ft away (clear outline of the tree and branches), with this IR illuminator I can see each individual branch and leaves on the tree. I already know when I can, I will be replacing it with a kiji k1 but until then, this will have to do.This is a great product and works flawlessly. Sturdy build and powerful unit. But, I could not fiind a mount to put this on my NVG-f Goggles from ATN. I fabricated one in about 2 hours. Since the Goggles have a "Shoe-type" receptacle on top of them to connect to a Rhino mount, that is the first hurdle. I took and cut a 4"(approx) by 11-12mm wide piece of 0.093"(thickness) 'optix' brand plexiglass. Any non-flexible plastic will work. The thickness is important since it must slide inside the 'shoe' on the Goggles. Then take a sanding block with 80 Grit Aluminum Oxide sand paper and bevel the top edge of your strip of plastic so it will slide in the shoes' groove. You may have to sand the width a bit too so the strip will slide in TIGHTLT/FIRMLY! Once completed, you are on your way. The strip is your platform for attachment of a piece of POLYMER Picatinny Rail. YES POLYMER. Take a piece of rail which is smaller than your Plexi platform. NOW you need to use your sanding block to sand down the edges on both sides of the rail so the entire assembly will 'clear' the top portion of the 'shoe' when you slide it in. (The bottom of the rail.) DO NOT SAND THE CENTER PORTION OF THE BOTTOM OF THE RAIL...IT IS GOING TO BE ATTACHED TO THE PLATFORM YOU MADE. After you have sanded down the bottom -side portion of the rail and have checked that it will not hit the top of the 'shoe' you are ready to Epoxy the rail to your platform. Center your rail on the platform and glue with GOOD EPOXY(Not crazy glue)...perfectly centered. You may have to sand a little more off the bottom of the rail if it does not clear the top of the shoe. Purchase a set of 1" scope rings that fit onto Picatinny Rail and you are all set to secure this light into the ring and then attach this assembly to your home-made mount. Works super duper!.This is an IR light to use with Nightfox gogglesBought this to use with my Sightmark WRAITH digital night vision scope. Wanted a unit powered by 18650 lithium batteries that also provides more intensity adjustment than the factory illuminator's 3 power levels provides. I got a chance to use it in the field this past weekend and am well pleased with the purchase. It appears to be as bright as the original illuminator easily lighting trees at 240 yds. I especially like that it runs either a single 18650 or a pair of CR123A batteries allowing me to hit the field with a charged 18650 while having convenient single use backup if needed. The smooth change of intensity from full bright to barely on is a great benefit, low level to spot eyes and silhouettes then once lined up raise the intensity for final verification of target before shooting. And the price is right. Only owned for a week, but so far so good. I do recommend this product.Simple to use and definitely helps. Battery was really tight fit. Haven't had to charge it yet . I hope it comes out easier than going in.If you're just trying to light things up while playing with night vision, does great. Only gripe at all would be that when you focus the beam all the way it turns into a square made of lines I'm assuming because you're seeing individual LED strips or something. Not a deal killer, but I can see why some people would be frustrated by something like that.Looks well built with a solid design. The ir brightness is awesome although I haven’t pushed it as far as it goes regarding distance. Battery life is something I can’t really comment on as I haven’t tested that either. Judging from the distance I have used it at I see no problem with this light reaching 100 yards and beyond. I’m also very sure the battery life is more than acceptable. The only gripe I have (which is small) would be the weight. It’s a tad bit on the heavy side so helmet mounting might be an issue. Mounting it on a rifle might not be as bad but if you have an additional white light or laser then the extra weight will really stack up. I would recommend this light for more recreational than tactical use...but to each there own. Happy with my purchase.Note, I was testing this light with a 4.5X monocular. This light is very powerful. The fit and finish, and materials are wonderful. BUT...The wide angle beam is very wide and is fairly nicely patterned, not well patterned. The tightly focused beam goes for several hundred yards, BUT, when tightly focused, the beam pattern truly sucks. The beam pattern looks like crude bright lines with dark spaces in between vs just an even pattern (see pictures). To be clear, the main beam itself has lines of light and dark in it - this can be seen by rotating the flashlight. AND it also induces additional lines of bright and dark areas into the monocular. I suspect the later is because the timing of the flashlight's frequency and my monocular's frequency are not compatible. When I de-focus the beam, the heavily lined pattern is less noticeable. The tightly focused beam would be most usable with maybe a 6X or greater scope, not my 4.5X, but regardless, the bright line pattern would still be horrible.Do not buy this one.850nm version.Note 850nm produces more light than 940nm.940nm is more discrete and not all cameras pick it up.I bought this torch to occupancy my night vision rifle scope. For 2 reasons, 1. prolong camera battery by using different ir source. 2. I could put torch in different location to me so I won’t get reflection when looking through glass to outside. For both of these points it works well. The torch itself is made well, feels tough. It’s not any heavier than any other torch of its size.Cannot really comment on its illumination range as I’ve not tested how far, but my garden is 80ft and it illuminated it well at the back. You can also widen or spread beam to suit. Intensity control wheel nice and easy to use.The illumination is better on my camera at setting 1 than this torch is on max, however this is probably why my camera can only last an hour and a half with it on, this is not a problem though as the torch does as its intended to and we’re talking different league of money. As a previous review states and I also see, there are a few lines can be seen flowing from top to bottom. This doesn’t effect my use, it could be the torch, it could be my camera. But it doesn’t matter to me.To sum this up if you want a torch to illuminate ir this will do it.If you want a torch for an alternate ir source for night hunting within 100m this will do it. May be suitable for further but not tested, so can only confirm what I know. (Mounting to a rifle could be done with the right clamps, will obviously add weight to your setup)Yes there are better torches out there but it’ll cost you more and if you need more ir light, it’s probably not a torch you need.I use it as a secondary to the ATN IR touch that came with the scope and the adjustability and long battery life of the Nightfox is great. it feels quality and weighty with a good seal so moisture does not get into the battery tube. The use of a 18650 single battery makes swapping out in the field easier than a multi battery torch. The Nightfox gives great illumination for the distance I need it to cover.Really good torch, bought after my T38 died unexpectedly and needed a popular replacement, however I don't know if it's my Night scope or the torch but I'm seeing lines on the IR beam even when I set the lens to full flood. Haven't seen this before but it's nothing major and I can still use the torch for hunting with no issues.Used the night fox for around a year now and it works perfectly for rats rabbits and foxes out to about 150yrds with eye shine furtherGreat value for money and a top quality product batterys last for ever in it with adjustable power and adjustable beam focus its great it can be used as an addon for night vison scopes or monoculars or on night vision camerasThey only say in the small print that the battery is not included. It's not a standard battery, so you need to buy a battery and charger separately. My advice is to buy one of the many similar items on here from another supplier that comes with a battery included.
